Where it all began
The 11/02/2008 was the worst day of my life! What was once known to me as man’s best friend had changed and scarred me forever…
Hi! I’m Luke, the co-founder and Managing Director of Stay N Play
Doggy Daycare and this is my story.
I like you am a huge lover of dogs. However, after a horrific attack from a Ridgeback cross this almost wasn’t the case. Following hours of micro surgery, 22 stitches to the right side of my face/arm and with numerous months of counselling I decided to turn my negative experience in to positive one. Little did I know this decision would change my life forever.
In the years that followed, I sought to learn as much as I could about dogs, their behaviour and
whatmakes them tick. I read as much literature as I could both in books and online, watching numerous videos from dog specialists. After getting two pugs for christmas Richie and George, I started to offer dog walks and training to family and friends with the aim of one day being able to provide this on a much larger scale.
During my time working in retail, I met my partner and co-founder Jason. With the combined experience we had in customer service, business development and animal care we decided to bite the bone and set up Stay N Play Doggy Daycare using our fur baby Princess Kiera as the face of the logo.
On the 05/09/2016, we officially opened our doors for business and in the time since, have been blessed with a fantastic community of customers both human and furry. We have also won a business award, been featured in multiple press releases including a blog from the local council leader Rishi Shori.
In 2017, we challenge the council regarding our boarding license and became only the 2nd doggy daycare at the time in the Bury, Rochdale and Oldham areas to be able to socialise puppies under 6 months with adult dogs. “A small step for us, a giant leap for dog kind” LOL!
In 2018, as part of our mission to INSPIRE, EDUCATE and BUILD CONFIDENCE around dogs, we had our very own CEO – Canine Executive Officer Kiera awarded PAT status. Through hard work and commitment Kiera is now an official Pets As Therapy dog. As part ofour efforts to give back, we have been out into the community teaching responsible dog ownership to college SEN students, primary schools and local youth groups. We are also working closely with Groundworks to visit the elderly in care homes in an effort to remove isolation and loneliness from our community.
We’re excited to see what the future holds and are grateful to everyone who has helped us along the way …
